If you buy a new quad from a dealer they will sent you the title. They have to now. In ohio Its only 6.00 to registrater it. Your better off if it gets stolen.

Smoke, I think you should get the title. No matter how you explain it to them, if you deside to sell that bike and the new owner wants it registered and the title in his name, you have to show proof that you paid the sales tax on the machine. I also have the letter saying that the bike is free and clear from the bank and that I owe no money. They still will not let the new owner of my quad transfer it over because I never had it put in my name or registered. Here in Pennsylvania if you want to ride state game lands you have to be registered and insured. Sure I saved the cash back 9 years ago when the quad was new, now that I sold it the new buyer wants it in his name. If I had known this I would have mentioned it before the sale of the quad and tacked it on top of the sale price. After I pay tax on the machine its $ 20 every 2 years for registration renewal. I won't buy out of state ever again. Thanks for your comments. I will be going to the auto tag place this week. I will let you know how I make out and what the prosess is.

A while back I wrote about buying my quads out of state to save on the tax. I sold one of my quads and the new buyer could not transfer over the title because I never paid the tax on the machine meaning the title was never in my name. Just this past friday I went to an auto tag place to have it transfered over into my name so I could give the title over to the new owner so he could put it in his name. I had to pay the tax on top of the price I paid for the quad 9 years ago plus the auto tag fee. Cost me an extra $ 300. to do this after I had sold the quad not to mention the hassle and paper work. Its not worth buying out of state to save a few bucks on the tax because if and when you want to sell your machine the new owner will not be able to transfer the title unless you bring this to their attention before selling the bike and add a few hundred dollars to the sale price so you don't lose money like I did. I will never do that again!!!!. If you had done this in the pass and have a machine with the title still in the dealers name or manufactuer, take the time now and have it transfered over into your name unless you feel you are going to keep this quad or sell it to a family member.

Hello all

Replying to rincon,,, i have an 03 400 manual,, i sale them also so i may be considered a homer, anyway 6 months with arctic cat , no problems. you asked if it was air cooled, it is air and oil cooled.
Seems like a good system. Our dealership has exploded this year. we have sold over 100 arctic cats. and we hit that mark about a month ago.. dont know how many now. I am in florida, and i still get asked " who makes them" lol,, we dont do much in the way of snowmobiles down here, and people are learning. But i can send one to a hunting club. and soon half the members are in the store looking at the cats.

Roscoe, that does not sound right that you don't have a title. I would check into that. It might be stolen or something. Something not right. A bill of sale dosen't mean squat. The title is proof of ownership which also has the vin number. If that machine gets stolen, your @*$& out of luck.

I just purchased an 04 Arctic Cat 400 4 X 4 Auto MRP yesterday. I went from a 01 Yamaha Kodiak 400 Auto and what a difference. The cat is so much bigger. Its a very well built machine and I'm happy with my choise. I was wondering how much full coverage insurance would be on an ATV. Just a ball park figure so I know what to expect. Thanks.
