Default Well I did it!

After I don't know how many years of trying to decide I purchased an Arctic Cat 400 last Saturday. 2004 lime green with MRP and a winch that I haven't installed yet. I haven't had much time to ride much but did get 20 miles on it and it was sweet. Seemed pretty tight in the beginning but could tell it was loosing up the more I rode it. Just how important is this break in thing anyway? And will it make a difference that it is winter here and I am breaking it in? It's hard to not open it up and just go but have tried to keep it under half throttle. Well be hard to do this for a hunderd miles, and will going in snow be to hard on it durning the break in? Any help would be wellcome.

the break in period is very important for your machine to have a long happy healthy life. being winter shouldnt be a problem as long as you let the machine warm up before you start riding. I usually let mine run until the side of the cylinder on the opposite site of where the exhaust pipe runs by is warm to the touch(the other side warms up much quicker) and then i take it easy for the first 5 to 10 minutes. the snow shouldnt hurt it either, just dont lug it or over rev it too much,

I to just purchased a ac 400 4 X 4 Auto MRP this past Monday. I didn't want the MRP but thats all they had and they gave it to me for the regular 4 X 4 auto price. Its a very sweet machine. Its much bigger than my 400 auto Yamaha Kodiak. As peteyz24 said, break in is very very important. Read your manual and follow it word for word. Keep up on the maintenence and you should have years of trouble free riding. I have a few quads and I wash it after every use even in the winter because of the salt. I'm a Yamaha guy but this is my first Arctic Cat quad. I could not resist the way this quad looks and how its built. Good luck with yours.

Thanks Wolf; Sounds like we have the same machines. Hope we both get many miles of trouble free riding from them. I to did not plan on the MRP but what the hell if it's the same price and the more I look at it the more I like it and all the stuff you can do with it, not that I ever will buy much of the stuff that they have but nice to know it's there if I ever needed it.
The machine is good sized which makes it seem very stable to ride which I really like.
