Default oil type?

I know this topic has been discussed in past threads, too many. Which oil? I have a 2003 400i man. I plow in the winter and ride trails in the summer. Just over 100 miles , time to change per manual. I bought a kit from Gander Mountain 30$ AC oil and filter, "synthetic all season extreme 4 cycle oil 0w-40." I don't plan on using the oil yet. From all I have read on this sight 200 to 500 miles on syn. changeover seems to be the way. What oil ? Does it make adifference from summer to winter? Cat came with reg oil not syn. I asked the dealer. Going riding tomorrow 60 degrees in january no snow but lots-o- mud! All replies appreciated

I use Amsoil 0w-40 for the Atv's and it works great. I run Amsoil in everything I own. Email me if you have any questions about it Jtls67@yahoo.com

10w40 Castrol, I know it's not for everybody but as often as I change my oil, I think I
could use anything!

Use a petroleum based oil until 300 miles then use the Cat 0-40 oil. Just make sure the oil is compatible with a wet clutch system. Most motorcycle oils will state it on the can.

I live in texas it gets pretty hot so i use mystic jb-8 15w 50. i have tested and shown that it reduces oil temp 20 to25 degrees cooler.
