Ready to plow!
#1
I just put my plow together on my 375 and we are supposed to get up to 6" of snow tomorrow. (I hope they are right). I can't wait to try it out! I'm just wondering how badly the Dunlop rear tires will suck in the snow. The fronts look like a slightly more aggressive tread pattern, but the rears have that tractor-tire looking tread on them and it just doesn't look like it has enough biting edges. Tomorrow will tell.

i dont know if they are the same dunlops as my 500 has, but mine do ok in the snow, not real great. I dont know if i could plow with them. I dont like them at all, lol, im getting rid of them as soon as i can afford something else.

I think they are the same. They are ok on packed dirt trails and packed snow, but I'm not sure how they are in deep snow. They are absolutely terrible in loose sand and they are not too good in mud, either. That said, the 375 itself does a lot to make up for the lousy tires with a great suspension. I'm going to probably go to the Carlisle Badlands XTR radials when or if I wear out the Dunlops. I'd like the Goodyear Rawhide MTR's like on my 650, if they made them in the 25" size. I really like them so far except that I havn't ridden them in snow yet. They are very good in loose sand, and they ride great.
It may be a moot point, however. I may wind up selling the 375 to get a TRV before I wear out the tires.

i have an '03 500i. i think it has the same dunlops on it. i do find that the front tires bite better than the rear tires. i haven't had any problems plowing snow yet, but the extra weight of the arctic cat really helps. a better tire would be nice for the deep wet stuff though, especially when pushing the snowbank back a little further.

The end plates keep the snow from rolling of the end of the plow when you are plowing. I have a set of them but only use one, it does a pretty good job at keeping the snow from rolling off the high side of the plow when I am rolling along. They also keep me from having to go back and clean up the little trails left behind. Hope that hellped ya some.

DanW,I'm waiting on some deep snow too.I put my snow plow on my 300 4x4 the other day.If you are worried about losing traction, get a set of tire chains to put on.I put a set of chains on my 300 and they really help.

We got some decent snow this week. The traction was adequate in 4wd. I love this plow setup. It really does a nice job. I think I'll get the flap at the top of the blade and I might think about the side plates.

I use a 5' plow on my 400 auto and it does a great job on the snow. I was easing around with it and it was pushing okay but we have a 1/4 mile of driveway and I found that when I kick up the speed it really throws the snow better. Fast speed...less snow sticks to the blade. We have a 4x4 Ford tractor with a blade and I'd rather use the Cat.

on my 2x4 'cat i put some mudlites on the rear, made a world of differance in the snow. as for the dunlops, my dad has them on his 300 king quad, they did great plowing, got plenty of traction, i didn't even need to put it into 4x4.
a couple storms ago though i got a little carried away and started to plow the back yard and almost got her stuck
ended up having to put it in 4 super-low and differential lock, king quads are real beasts
