Pick your poison. Vamps and Mud Machines will have the better traction. Bugs will be lighter, show less power loss, and ride better. Vamps will ride the worst and show the biggest power loss.

I like the Claws on my 500, but I don't think you could go wrong with mud bugs either.

The new tire on the block to have is the Outlaws, there as aggresive as the vamps there a 6 ply verses a 4 ply and they weigh less. They have a side wall cup design which no one has yet and a one inch and a quarter tread design that makes traveling thru the nastys a whole lot more enjoyable. Thats my opinion check them out at highlifter .com

In your message to me you stated that you have a 2wd 300 Bayou, and you asked my opinion if i thought you should only change out the rear tires. Id say most definately if you are running a 2wd machine. The bear claws or vampires would do nicely, most two wheel drive atv drivers think that there machines will go the same distance as the 4wd machines big misconception. If your only sticking to the logging trails and the groomed trails certainly. Its the same difference between a two wheel drive truck and a 4 wheel drive I live in Alaska and id never own anything less that a 4wd anything. Good luck with the tires.

Well I have the 27" vamps on my 500 Cat and I love them. Of course with a manual you don't feel as much power loss as an auto I guess. I have a couple of friends that bought 26" vamps one for a Grizz 600 and the other for a SP500. They are really impressed with theirs so far. I have another friend and riding buddy thats got 27" Vamps on his 500 Cat and he really likes his tires too. We really do all kinds of riding, mountains, swamps, Hills and rocky stuff, no complaints so far. I saw the new 28" Vamps in person, definately looked bad to the bone. I've never had the other two types you mentioned so I couldn't tell you anything about those. Good luck with your new machine.

I don't know about the fender clearance on the Rubicon. It doesn't look like it has much. In the case that 27" dont fit well, Vampires in a 26" tire have the same size lug as the 27" Vamps do. That is a real good point. Most 26" tires have a smaller lug. The Outlaws may have the same too. Claws do not. I love the 27" claws, but the smaller ones don't float my boat.
