V-Belt for 500 TRV
Well, after browsing Brown's Leisure World a bit more I did find that they carry the transmission V-belt - $240.00 ea. . Guess I won't carry a spare with me. Would still like to know what the life expectancy of the drive belt is, though. Anyone have any idea?

All I know is from what my dealer told me, Since they opened their doors about 5 years ago, they have sold 1 belt for the 500. Reason being is the 500 uses a live belt transmission which means unlike Kawasaki and Polaris where the belt actually slips on the clutchs (same as a snowmobile cllutch), the AC 500 is constantly turning, therefore no belt slippage and much longer belt life. I have had no problems at all with the belt on my TRV. I ride with a guy who runs a Polaris 500 and his machine eats belts. He and I have been over the same trail a couple of times and he is on his 3rd belt. My AC has not missed a beat nor shown any signs of problems. I have heard of guys whose AC belt cover leaks and lets the belt get wet and slips until its dried out but nothing other than that.
I have about 1000 miles on my TRV and no problems. Not sure when to anticipate replacing it. All the mechanics at the AC dealers I have spoken to said you very rarely need to replace an AC belt.

I believe the belts are supposed to last 10,000 miles....or so.
And I just want to clairify one thing....the belt is constantly ENGAGED not actually constantly TURNING. Which is to say it is always in the grips (if you will) to the sheaves. I thought constantly engaged meant turning also....until I took the cover off and started the machine....at idle the clutch is not spinning at all.
Needless to say you belt should last you a long time.

I have a 2003 400i, same clutch set up I believe, and I only got 2000 miles out of mine. I am trying out a Dayco right now, have read some bad things about them, but not so much about the 400 (mostly 650's) but I figures for a 1/3 of the price I would try one out. If you start smoking your belt at all your life expectancy goes down also.
