Default 03 500i creak noise

Hi guys, this is my first post in this forum,I've read a bunch here in the last few days great source of info.
Anyway my question is has anybody had problems with a creak type noise from the rear of a 500i ? A friend of mine was told
by our area dealer that the noise is caused from the rear outer hub bearings moving in the hub causing popping /creak noise
has anyone else had this noise and will it cause damage or get worse? The noise is no big deal as long as it is'nt going to cause
a problem down the road .

The noise could have a number of sources. Your dealer is right a dry wheel bearing will complain before it piles up but usually they are good for 2000 miles plus. Personally I would suspect the suspension bushings. As you know the independant suspension has a whole bunch of moving parts together with the shocks all of which use rubber bushings which in my experience do not last all that well. I would apply a generous amount of penetrating spray oil on the bushings and check if the noise is temporarily reduced or elimated. If not then check the wheel bearings real quick and also the rear diff input bearing.

my front end was making a creaking noise so i took it in to the dealers and thay told me all my upper a arm bushings were shot. so i had them replaced and no more creaking noise.
try jacking it up off the ground and see iff you can move your controll arms back and forth if there worn out you will see the arms move.
p.s. mine had 2100 miles be for it started to make that noise.

We ran into this at our dealer with some of the 03 400s and 500s- what is actually happening is that the end of the axle shaft is a hair too long and its rubbing on the inside of the wheel causing it to creak. If you pull off the wheel and look you can see where its actually rubbing on the inside of the wheel. What I did was take a grinder and shave a hair off the end of the axle and the creak goes away. If its not rubbing I would take a deeper look into what the other guys are saying. I would try the simple stuff first
