brake switch problems/problems getting parts?
#11
Yeah that's what they are telling me too...the wire runs under the fuel tank, etc. So it's a pain to swap it out. But still, they can do that in a few hours. The important thing is getting the part! I sure hope that switch isn't on backorder! The dealer is supposed to call AC and check on it today.

Well I got some BAD news. I called to check on the status of my quad today. Looks like the switch is on backorder until May 6! I don't want to sit here and wait on my new quad for 3 or 4 weeks, so I'm going to pick it up today and whenever the part comes in I'll just drop it off and have them fix it. Geez...this sucks. well in my opinion i think that articat lacks support for the ac 650, reason being i tore an axle boot and it took 3 weeks to get one, second thing is i orderd 2 clutch cover seals back in feb and there still on back order until may, i orderd a shop manual when i picked up my machine on feb 4th and still never heard from them

Regarding the brakelight/start in gear switch, the one they replaced on mine was probably 24 inches long and made the connection under the front plastic next to the steering stem. Don't know why they would have to go all the way back to the fuel tank.

Odd thing is...my start-in-gear feature still works. It's just my brake-light that doesn't. The brake-light does work with the foot-brake though...so it's got to be in that hand-brake switch somewhere. I don't know...they told me the wires go under the fuel cell and everything so I don't know. Since the part won't be in for a month I may examine the switch myself when I get it back today and see if I can figure out exactly how it works. The dealer told me it's a hydraulic pressure switch.

Unless there is another switch I don't know about, the one that went out on mine that controlled the brakelight/start in gear was a micro switch behind the hand brake lever. It was not any type of pressure switch, just 2 wires from it running to a connector at the steering stem.

Good news! I got mine back from the dealer on the 12th. I was glad to get it back! everything seems in order. I am wondering also if there is lack of tech support for these 650s though! But I think on this particlular part the volume of problems is the hold up on the new swith harness! so now we will see how she does it only has 97 miles on it!
