Default Ignition Modules

I see there are several "cheater boxes" like Highlifter ICM and the Kunytech that allow the stock ignition to achieve full advance at lower speeds. I was temped to go this route until I saw this: Dynatech

This is a complete replacement mudule and it bases all engine timing on rpm, not speed. Plus, it disables the reverse limiter and belt deflection switch. Has anyone tried it? The website shows listings for 01-2 Kawi 650's and a diferent one for the 03 650's and 04 700's. Which one would we need for our AC 650's? I noticedmy module has 3 plugs on it. Any input would be great.

i have tried the dyna module my bro has it in his p700 it worked in my 650 cat you will notice the
diff. in accel right away another friend has a 04 griz and he always beat me in a drag not after
the module was put in we were even and i have big mudders and he has the stocks i still wont beat the p700 but ill get him in the mud but mine is now on order after using his for a day i noticed that the cooling fan was not on as mutch meaning it runs cooler and starts easier plus it wakes up the 650 big time it took all of 3 min to install best $220 youll spend on the cat
i forgot to add this module will not let the belt light come on and go to limp mode

Thanks Catman! SOLD! I was told the HL ICM makes the engine run hotter.....glad to see this one does the opposite. Sounds like they mapped the timing out much more effectively than stock. So the model for the Kawi 700 has 3 plugs and is the one we need? Just to clarify before I order.

CDI= best. Your AC650 will use the CDI made for the 2003 and 2004 Prairie700
DG3 module=next best. This speed sensing module has a "brain" that alters the frequency based on speed. It supposedly give you more power than the HL module does. The CDI is better at high speeds. DG3 is about $140, and might not appear on the diamond G website. Call them.
HL ICM module=good, but not as good as the DG3.
DG Holeshot=not as good as the HL but still better than nothing. You probably can get it cheap on ebay.

As far as we Kawasaki owners can tell, they all make the engine run cooler than stock. The Dyna CDI supposedly does the most toward keeping the engine cool.

I understand that the Dynatec cdi has some function advantages over the HL ICM but in my 650LE it wasn't as powerful. When I saw this post a couple of days ago and saw the info posted for the cdi I had to check out there site. To my suprise the cdi can be run even if you have the ICM. My buddy's 650MRP has the dynatec and after begging him yesterday and promising him a case of beer he let me try it. I felt like I made a mistake when I bought my ICM even though it turned my LE into a wheelie machine(along with an EPI pro clutch.). But I felt better after I tried his CDI. I dont want to say that it made my quad slow but it just wasn't as fast. It most definately didn't have the low end punch of the ICM. And my quad went from being able to pick the front end at will to having to try to get the front light. I do like the fact that it eliminates the limp mode but could care less about the reverse limiter as the button wasn't that hard to push. Is it worth the extra money to me at the loss of performance? I dont know. I have a limp reset plug and I've never had to use it. Maybe if I had some limp mode problems I'd change my mind.
Wook.

Hmm, I guess I assumed that the AC650 would respond the same as the 03 650. I can't say why the CDI wouldn't work better than the HL ICM on your AC 650 like it does on our machines.

The CDI drastically outperforms the HL ICM on the 02,03 and 04 prairies. Also the DG3 outperforms the HL ICM when installed on the Prairie.

the dyna module turns the timing to 5 deg advanced instead of 20 degrees retarted thats where the
power comes from and the low temps i drag raced cars and am a auto tech when the timing is off
the engine makes more heat because the engine is not running corretly all the other modules like dg
only helps on bottom end this helps the whole power band most mods to 4 cycle wheelers are not as noticed but this will make you sh** the p700 works with a/c 650 i would not recommend the other modules for the belt light situation you can get the reset plug but while everyone else is going down the trail your reseting your light they shouldnt even have a limp mode thats my biggest compaint about
the a/c 650 mine came on before the reset plug it wasnt fun and the best part is my dealer didnt know how to reset it i would buy it you wont be sorry
if your going to spend $150 step up and get the better one youll wish you had it down the trail
just my opinion
