Any statement from Arctic Cat on "limp mode problem"
#1
Hey Guys, Whats the latest on the limp mode problem that so many of us have experienced.
Has Arctic Cat ever made any statement on what their intention is regarding this recurring & problematic limp mode , or are they acting like an ostrich & burying their head in the sand hoping it will just go away? I'm totally fed up with this crap. It's happened to me 3 times in less than 400 miles & i want to know what the hell they are going to do about it. Twice at Moab, Utah which was very embarrassing with other riders having to wait on me to reset . Also to two others with us on Arctic Cats. Don't they realize this limp mode is costing them Bocoo's in sales of their 650's. I have over $8500 invested in an ATV & accessories that might just quit at any given moment. For those who have riden the trails at Moab, or anywhere else as far as that goes, this could certainly be a dangerous situation. Have any of you contacted AC & received any pertinent info as to what the problem is, & the cure for it? If i don't get any satisfaction from this post i will certainly be talking to someone there. We have over 44,000 members on this forum thats reading these posts. So Arctic Cat, take note, if we don't get some satisfaction, i for one belong to several ATV forums & i will be a thorn in your side. We've been more than patient waiting for you to get your act together, we want results NOW! I will now post this on the Highlifter forum, ATV Time, ATV Nation, ATV Quadsport, ETC, ETC. Also several ATV magazines i subscribe to. Every electrical connection i could find has been doped with dielectric grease & i have checked every connection & anything else i thought might help, i've did. AC the ball is in your court, we want this taken care of PRONTO!

I have been lucky so far, 150 miles and nothing. I just have to believe that it is just a matter of time, and it is on my mind any time I hit a steep hill climb. I have a 300 AC, and a 375 AC, plus this 650 AC. I have been real dissapointed in their response to customers in the last couple of weeks. When I sent my survey back in that came from them about the new 650, I included a question about the master cylinder on the 375, only 300 miles on it. I asked for a response either in writing or I gave them my home phone number. I later called Jim Baldwin who gave me a number, which I left a message and still have not received any response. With 3 AC's you would think they would like to respond to someone with that kind of loyalty. I have switched from AT&T, gas companies and others because their attitudes, so switching atv brands would not be a out of the question. Just sort of burns your butt up when they make you feel insignificant. It is like we have your money so see ya. Oh well just needed to air my opinions.

I totally agree with you about Artic Cat. They seem willing to take our money but they don't seem to react to problems we have. I like the bike but if I had to do it over knowing what I know now I probably wouldn't buy a Artic Cat. It just doesn't make sense to spend 7000-8000 dollars and then have all the nit picking problems that yhe A.C. has. I know all brands have problems but A.C. leads the pack.
1. Tires are junk
2. Limp mode problem
3. My front diff leaked
4. My brakes were and still are junk.
5. The foot brake bracket is a joke.
6. Gas mileage is a joke (You need 7 gal. to go as far as A Griz. Or Prairie 4.5 gal. tank will go)
Other than tese things it's not too bad

I also have had my bike go to limp mode.at about 90kms....but have about 560 now and it has been ok,,,,,,buta buddy has had his go off about 30 times...........but he doed ahvea short......evert time he shifts to dif lock......his machine automaticly goes to 4 wd............so i am guess it isa sudden voltage spike that is doing it...........he did bypass it and it has been ok.....if mine goes off.......again it will get bypassed....dealer said it wont hurt woranty to bypass.....but i am hoping wont happen ...we are going on a 50 mile rally this weekend.and it has about 30 miles of deep water and mud.......so will find out i guess...what the 650 will actually go through....

WhoDatInTheMud, I've read that too,& i guess i'll try it, but i really don't have much faith in that for a fix. I think others have tried it to no avail. Anyway i'm willing to try it, as it would certainly be easy enough. Some of the guys think it's a water thing, but in the three times mine has been in limp mode no water was involved. It was all just normal riding. I'm thinking an electrical glitch, possibly coming from the CDI. I took delivery of my Cat on Oct. 6th, so mine was one of the early ones off the assembly line. Maybe a bad batch of CDI's, or some electrical component. I really don't know, just guessing like everyone else. But i do appreciate your input, as well as you other guys & your comments. So far limp mode is the only problem i've had with mine, knock on wood. Even with that, there's not another ATV out there that i would trade my Cat for. Eventually a solution will be found for the problem & maybe another ground just might be it. I'm going to call Arctic Cat as others have done & see if they have something good to say. Their phone # is 218-681-8558 in Thief River Falls, Mn. 56701, in case anyone would like to get in contact with them. Regards, Jerico1

I was at AC service school last week and they said that they are working on it. They have come up with an RF filter that hooks in line with the belt switch and they have sent it to a few dealers with problem machines. They said so far they have been having good luck with it but they are waitng for the customers to get some more miles on their machines. They think the limp mode problem is caused by one of two things- a sudden voltage spike witch they have traced down to improperly setup batteries by dealers or transient RF from something triggering the belt light and limp mode. Thats about what I know on it.....

WOW. My bud just bought a new 650 cat. Dragged it against my buds 600sportsman and the cat beat me. Looked it over and tried it out. Thought it might be a good ride. Glad i looked here to see what you guys thought of it. Sounds like all the stupid problems my buds have on brand new AC sleds. Guess I'll continue to keep my distance fromAC. Good luck guys
