Default 250 FAN?

Has any body ever put a cooling fan on the oil cooler,on a 250 i've been thinking about doing so. I was hauling dirt and other things around the property that we have, and it was a pretty heavy load no problem but i noticed that the tempature gauge light went on? so i let it sit for 2 hours and then started that little workaholic machine again for another hour or so then it came on again. i live in south texas and it gets fairly hot ouside. do you think a cooling fan with a on/off switch would be a good idea? Has anyone else done this?

FastCat, I haven't done it, yet. Until I move down to the retirement place in the high desert of central Oregon I don't need it. I looked up the fan kit before and it is part # 0436-127 for a bit over a $140. I think it would be a good idea in your case. I don't use mine as a work horse much other than up some rough, steep trails or a little hill climbing. The rest of the time I'm movin' at a pretty good pace.

FastCat; that is a good price. Let us know how it works out. It will be nice to know how much effect it has on your engine temp.

Default 250 FAN?

I got one on my 300 and it works great- I do 99% trail riding it it rarely turns on unless I am really working it hard- I guess it doesn't run as hot as I thought. But during the dog days of summer it does run and it keeps her cool. If you run in the water a lot its not a bad idea to put a disable switch on it so you don't wreck the fan if it kicks on in a water hole. The other thing is to make sure your cooler isn't plugged with mud....

I've run my 250 for about 8 hrs straight a few times in 95 degree weather and never overheated the engine to the point the light has come on. Could it maybe be a diff in the air pressure and humidity.
