what do you all think of the ac 500. don't know much about them yet.
i own a 400 polaris sprtsman and like it alot. starts great in realy cold weather.
re-did the back up system which sucks.

what about ac.......do they have reverse override button and what works when you use it??

does it seem like you need to realy rev them up before they go. it seemed to me when i rode one last the engine realy screams and your hardly moving.

my friend has a suzukie ieger and it's a real great fast machine and lite weight

hey scooter i have had 2 ac 500's a 2002 and a 2003 the 2002 was a lil poochy but the 2003 is about the same horsepower as a 500 h.0. polaris and well i found that my 500's actually started better in cold weather then the polaris cause right on the carb you got a lil primer you can prime about 3 times plus use the choke and it will start up no problem and ride wise i feel the arctic cats ride about the same as polaris but with arctic cat if you have to work on them trust me they are way easier to work on and will last you mechanically longer well you have a 400 sportsman and they are probably one of polarises best machines for being mechanically sound good luck with your choice and ride often and ride safe

I bought an 04 ac500 in january and not a promblem with it starts right up in the cold. and its a work horse it has a lot of power and torque. one thing that I wish it had was the locking front end all it has is limited slip in the front. one thing they are heavy.

thanks for the replys guys.

sounds like some people aren't likeing the new hemi 650 single cylinder coming out in '05 from ac.

yes my '02 polaris 400 sportsman is an awsome machine. mine starts up in cold w/o using the choke. if it's around 10 deg. or less i need to.

i don't like the single brake lever or the reverse over ride. when plowing it sucks!!! i made some changes to that.
my reverse over ride is now a horn. i have 4x4 in reverse and all the speed i need in reverse.polaris is also one heavy machine. i think my 400 is in a 500 frame like the AC

how is it on the AC's for reverse?????????

i have a AC dealer right in town here. i need to pay more attention i guess. i would like to own one but need to know if i would be upgrading from my 400 polaris thats trouble free.

the ac reverse is very similiar to the polaris. I use my 500tbx for plowing snow (when I have the tires on) and just use the override button when backing up. When using that you get plenty of speed.

ok thanks

but what i want to know is..........

once i got stuck with my polaris and had to hop off and give it gas and hit the reverse over ride just so i would have 4x4. THAT STINKS REAL BAD!!!!

do you have 4x4 in reverse w/o the button or do you need to press it also.

i don't want an AC if getting back in the same shoes but different brand

The ac is in 4x4 in reverse without pushing the over ride button. The ac doesn't retard as much as the polaris does if you aren't pushing the over ride button.

on this sight it was titled "for those wanting a locking/unlocking front diff on the arctic cat 500i" or something like that it is just a few categories before this one probably be kind of a pain in the butt to put in but once you would get it in it would be worth it or else you can go hardcore take it apart and weld it solid i guess heard of ppl doing that to older 4x4's (wouldn't recommend it on a new one)
