26 inch tires

They are going to steal a slight bit of power as the larger than stock diameter is going to change your overall gear ratio. This will however be minimal and you might not even notice it. The Mudlite is very light tire so it won't add much weight to your bike either which steels power also. Go for them, You'll love them. Try giving this guy a try for prices. www.atvoutfitters.com or e-mail Matt at atv outfitters directly at MB@ATVOUTFITTERS.COM When I e-mailed him directly for a quote he dropped his online prices quite a bit and I didn't even ask.

The tires will give you more ground speed but little lower power, and bigger tires would mean that you need to recalibrate your auto
tranny,if you don't recal. getting through the mud will be harder with akward shifting.
of course a manual does'nt have this problem.

I put them on and really like them, they make a huge difference in traction, they just keep pulling forward. They steal some power on the top end and the initial clutch engagement doesn't seem quite right, a clutch kit should fix that though. They do great on the trails and in the mud, I do run out of power sooner going up hills in hi gear than I did with the stock tires. They also steer as easy as the stock ones did. My fan also kicks on more now, I think a higher engagement on the clutch would change this, a clutch kit should fix this too. I got mine from Hondapartsword They had the best prices I could find, I talked to Stan and he even beat the prices they have on their web site by a few $$.

thanks for the replies. greatly appreciated. you say a clutch kit would help with power loss and clutch engagement? what does the clutch kit consist of and is it easy to install? epi, dalton, or highlifter kits, what's the difference?

Honestly, I would try running the tires first. Going from a 25 to a 26 in tire might not make as big of a difference as you might think. Especially with a tire as light as a Mudlite. If it was a 35lb Gator it would make a lot more of a difference because of all the additional weight on the drivetrain. A lot of people who reclutch their tranny are usually trying to gain back a huge power loss from making a large increase in tire size not just one inch.
EPI and Dalton both make excellent clutch kits and EPI makes the clutches for High Lifter. As long as you go with either one you should be extremely satisfied with your performance results.
Clutch kits are fairly easy to install AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TOOLS. There is a primary clutch puller and a secondary clutch compressor that makes the job extremely simple. Without these tools the job is a real bear and it is all to easy to damage the clutch pulleys or components prying on the clutches trying to install the springs or weights. The tools arn't that expensive and EPI or Dalton both sell what you will need.
Good Luck,
Rich.

thanks wookie. i'd rather not buy the clutch kit if i don't need it. tires should be here tomorrow and i'll try them to see if there is any noticable power loss or not. can't wait to get rid of the dunlops.
1wook. what did the mudlites cost at hondapartsworld. i got mine off ebay for $192.50. seemed like a good deal.

Put them on and have fun moving some dirt, let us know what you think. You'll be fine without the clutch kit but I belive that you'll feel that they take some power. I just know from my polaris experianes what clutch tunning can do and it was worth it.
They were $230 shipped to me, I don't recall the individual tire prices but I think the shipping was $35. Walmart mounted them for $12.

i put the mudlites on. what an awesome looking tire. i drove around the yard and didn't notice any power loss. way more bite. kinda tore up the lawn oops. i'm going on a ride this weekend so i'll be able to test them out better. thanks to everyone for all the replys. much appreciated.

i got to try the mudlites over the weekend. wow, what a difference. way better traction and no more front tire folding over while turning fast. did lose some power while accelerating and climbing hills but not too bad. would the dalton spring help with accelerating? mudding was a lot more fun. awesome pull and they have a smooth ride. i'm pretty happy with them.
