New Bike
#1
Hello everybody!
Im very new to the atv world. I have been reading the forum here awhile, And noticed a very deep pool of knowledge. In the next month or so I plan to buy an ac 500 auto. My guestion is does this machine have as much grit as all the machines I see on the big trails like in PA. TENN. and NC. Can this machine do the mud bogs like the rest of them? I also would like to know how long that auto Trans. belt will last (? many miles)And can you easily change it on a trail if your 20 miles in?? I sure thank you for honest anwsers. Please cover all areas of this machine because I know very little about it.
Thanks SLY

Sly- Welcome to the AC forum and to our loving family here. I can't tell you too much about the belt on the auto cat because I own a manual. The Cat will be a pretty descent mud bogger compared to most of the other bikes you will find. Be sure and watch out for the gas guage because mine is very optimistic. Some of the other guys on here have guages that show they are almost out when in fact they have a lot more left. The AC has a nice ride and will get up and go when you need it too. Seeing as I don't own the auto I can't be too much help to you.

I also own a manual model, 1999 Arctic Cat 500 with the factory 26" tires.
I ride with 2 Honda 300 4x4 with 26" SS TSL's, A 450ES with 26" Vamps and a homemade lift kit that guves it clearance like you wouldn't believe, and a 450s with 27" Mud Bugs, I out mud the 300's and I can keep up with them in all but 1 mud hole that is rack deep. Infact, before the 450es got his liftkit I made it threw a hole that he got stuck in.
So is it a good mud machine?
