Default 300 4x4

Hi I recently bought an 98 AC 300 4x4. I was wondering if their was any way to get a front locker for it. What are the biggest tires i can run without a lift kit. Thanks, kevin

Kevin, the 98 300 has the same front end as a king quad. if you take the 4x4 shift lever off the front and repostion it you can have 4x4 and 4x4 lock. if you can get a longer cable for the 4x4 shifting you can have 2wd, 4x4, and 4 wheel lock. i modified my shift cable and made it longer. it lasted for about 3 years and broke so now i just get off and move the leaver by hand. as for tires i talked to one guy who had 27's on the back of his and 26's on the front. i have 26's all the way around on mine but i have more air in the back tires to compensate for the 1" tire difference between the front and rear tires. you will loose allot of top speed ie i dont even use 5th gear any more. but it has no problem turning the 26's in low 1st gear and i dont imagine 27's would be any harder.

When you say 4x4 shift lever do you mean the lever in the fender that you push to put in 4x4, or the lever that the cable goes to on the diff. What do you mean reposition it, do i flip it over or something.

The lever i am talking about is the one on the front diff. all you need to do is remove the bolt that holds it on take the lever off and rotate it up a few splines (3 splines is what i am thinking) put it back on and then you should be able to feel the 3 positions on the lever and that will give you 2wd, 4x4 and 4 wheel lock.
