Highlifter lift kits reduced
#1
They have dropped their prices and the AC lift is only $79 now. I wonder if this is to compete with the lower price for the Moose Utility Division lift kit? Either that or the drive shaft problem has lowered the popularity of lifts in general.

Hey Andy'
I noticed too the last time I was on the HL site. I got to thinking about the front CV joints and the angles that would be changed. If a guy that weighs around 150 lbs sits on the machine versus a guy 225 lbs the angle of the shafts changes quite a bit. In my case I go 225 so I think that it should not put a great deal more strain on the joints when looked at against a light rider. Do you think this makes any sense? I am of course trying to justify the lift kit and get rid of the risk in my head, but I believe the logic is correct.
Cheers Jim

I could never justify the lift for myself, and I only weigh 150. The bigger tires will fit under an AC already and you don't really lose any stability. If I were you and I didn't do just strictly mud riding, then I wouldn't bother with the lift. I looked at it a bunch, and it just wasn't worth the risk of messing up drive shaft and cv joint angles.

I have been thinking about what Jim referred to for the last couple days now, since the little problem I had with my Dad and strapping down the 'Cats. I too am tipping the scales around 225-230, and with over 100 lbs. on the front rack all the time, my front end sags anyway, so I'd have to agree with you, I think it should be OK, wouldn't it?
Not sure if you read the "shock" post, but I had a little trouble with my Dad tying them down the other day. My front end sags already due to weight on the front, but since he cinched it down to where the shocks were at full compression, and the springs were bowed out a little, I'm worried he's done some other damage. I can't get down to the dealer to tell for sure till next friday. Do you guys have any thoughts? It looks like the lift kits just add an additional inch or two long bracket to the bottom of the shock mount, is that right? That would then give the proper lift? Would I be better off with snow plow shocks?
Also, Andy, you know I've been looking at the 27" Mud Buggs for a while now, but looking at the weight difference, there really is only a pound or two between them, and the 28" Outlaws. Scotto said they fit, but I guess I'll have to ask him, or hope he replys to see how much clearance there is. I can't imagine any performance difference between the two tires even with the 1" difference in size, both being 10" wide. Anyway, I need to do something to get the front end up. I hope there is no damage to anything up there from the strap job, though I'm not sure about that. It now sits even lower than it did before. I can't remove the box, as it houses all my recovery gear, so I need to come up with something.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
