the airbox is underneith the seat on the 500's i believe it still is with the 04 and 05 very easy to access and if you do alot of hardcore mud running may i suggest snorkle kit the only thing is i am sure you would lose horsepower with it an you have to cut a hole in your front fender

I am a reliable source on this topic. I have owned and ran Cat ATV's since 1999, and i work at a cat dealership. Arctic cat fourwheelers have the most ground clearance, suspension travel, rack capacity, rack abilities, and load pulling numbers in the ATV industry. Although they are great, they are not perfect. They can be a little bulky when turning tight, or cornering hard while trail riding. The automatic transmission is a fully sealed unit, with a snorkel up near the gas tank, so no water can get in. It also has the constant drive belt system, which means the clutch is always engaged, therefore making belts last much longer. This also eliminates the "rev up" before the clutch kicks in. There are so many features on these new cats, i can't name them all. But if you have any more questions, i am the guy to ask.

Where did you get that name . I'm a convert, I don't think there's a better value for the money on the market today. Can't wait for the H1, only I wish it came with an ACT option. BTW, have you ever had any problems with the ACT? If so, what should I be lookin' for?

Ok ditchpickle,
How about what that dealer is telling me...that the manual shift version is more expensive than the automatic? Is that true? It doesnt make sense to me.

If anything, the manual transmission should be cheaper. Your dealer must be mistaken, because at the dealership that i work at, the manual runs 5699 and the auto 5899. The manual is torquier, but it all comes down to if you feel like shifting all of the time.

Well, I'm no expert on the subject. All I can say is that I bought my first ATV today (AC 400) and feel confident in it's performance. I've test ridden Hondas, Yamahas and Suzukis. I started out today in pursuit of a Honda, but when I found there were no local dealers in my area, I opted to "look around". From what I learned about ACs today, I feel I've made the right choice.
I "can" tell you this - the dealer I bought my AC from told me the auto was about $300.00 higher than the manual. I wanted the auto so that's what I got.

I work at gander mountain, the new cat dealership in town. Your sled price sounds about right, i sold my 1997 zr 580 efi with 3000 on it for 1500, but that went the first day, and i could have gotten 1800 out of it i think. I would say your sled would be worth 22-25, depending on condition, and efi adds a little to the price. 2300 doesn't sound bad at all, 2500 wouldn't be a problem to get either probably.
