Default winch install

I'm trying to put in my new Warn winch and I ran into a problem in connecting the harness. I have the end of the harness connected to the solenoid, but the two prong plug goes where? The directions say to plug it into a plug near the voltage regulator but I don't see anything. The only other two prong plug I see is located near the fuse box right under the handlebars. Then the directions say to install a jumper and splice some wires... If any of you have had experience installing this, let me know! BTW it's for a 2003 250

Ok, there is an accessory plug on newer models (like my '05 400) in the harness running across behind the cylinder. On my '01 250 ther was no plug and I hard wired in to the acessory fuse in the fuse box up front by getting a 2 pin plug (at the local auto parts store) and running some wires to the fuse. I don't have a wiring diagram for a '03 so I don't know if there is an accessory plug on the '03. I called my dealer to find the plug on my '05 as it was buried under the harness.

The directions are definitely bad! Is this not the plug that goes from the thumb control to the solenoid? I remember there also being a plug that came with my AC in the wiring harness, but I don't remember if I used that. If you've already plugged the one from your controller in and still have one left, I would suggest looking by the steering shaft in the wiring harness. Unfortunately, I don't recall, but I'm quite confident it's one of those two.

Given Bear's comment (at the same time), I'm going with it is the accessory plug. You'll have to take whatever necessary off to access the wiring harness or you'll spend a week searching through by hand! I didn't realize part of the top cover popped off at first and took forever to install my heated grips. When I realized it while putting on the winch, it sped things up immensely!

I found the plug with the seat and the airbox removed.

yes, this is the wire that runs from the switch to the soleniod with the two prong plug near the middle. I figured that the accessory plug was the one I needed, but it's up front under the plastic fender by the steering column and the plug on the winch harness is right by the ignition coil. Somehow I'll have to figure out how to get these two together.

If your rig has the accessory power plug in the left side panel (cigerette light type), then there is another plug to plug into for the winch. It should be back near where the plug on the winch harness is. Like I said, mine was buried in the harness on the engine. On mine it was behind the cylinder but a 400 engine sits farther forward so I would suspect it would be in the main harness along side the cylinder maybe even in the harness running along the left side frame.

well I've come to the conclusion that the plug I need is indeed the one up front under the fender. Now I just need to figure out how to get that to the back around the ignition coil. It only reaches to the fuel switch, maybe, it's all taped up with the rest of the wiring harness.
I've pulled off the side panel, air box and still I see nothing of what they mention in the stupid booklet.

Question:
I have am looking at getting a Warn winch and all supplies to install to my 05 400 for $325 shipped. A local Arctic Cat dealer will sell and install the same winch for $400 + tax. I am some what handy but am wondering if it is worth the extra $75 or so to have them install or if it is easy enough to do myself?
