Default 2004 500 4X4 CVT Diff. Lock?

Does it have a differential lock or is it "3" wheel drive (sorry, don't know a better term for it). If it does, is it lever or button operated?
Thanks.

Not the 2004 model. Only the 650 had it in 04. The 2005 models have it.

The 400, 500, and 650 all have the locker in 2005. The 500 & 650 have the new body style too.
In 2004 only the 650 had the locker.
I would go with the 2005 just for the locker, and the new body style. It looks so much better, IMO.
Also, the way it works is an electronic switch to turn between 2x4 & 4x4, and when in 4x4 you have a lever you can pull for the front locker.

ya, on the 04 models, u have 2x4 then u have 4x4 with a limited slip front, really cool to see it in action, when engaged, one side of the front will pull until it starts to spin then the other immediately engages for full 4x4. id def. go with the 05' for the locker, a really nice piece of mind.

If a limited slip actually did work in the manner described above, we wouldn't think so highly of lockers. The power transfer to the wheel with traction is a complete farce and has been with every limited slip design regardless of how highly touted it was played out to be in brochures and magazines.

I would go with the 05 as well.

A Detroit Locker works that way, usually. But I don't think this is would be a good thing in the front axle as thet tend to stay locked up with no power to them. Would make turning a lot of work. The locker was the biggest reason I went with an '05. It works to.

I've got the '04 400 4x4... I never knew it was supposed to have a limited slip diff. I've seen the "limited slip" do its thing when one wheel lifted off the ground. It limited the 'spin' to the wheel in the air.

Grrrr.
