Considering an Artic Cat quad...questions?

I admit that I am not at all familer with AC quads. I've always had and ridden quads from the big four and it wasn't until my brother brought me an '04 brochure that I had even looked at AC. I'm kind of in the market for a used 4x4 quad and I'm curoius about the 250/300cc AC quads. I had a Wolverine back in '96 and I didn't care for it all that much at the time because I didn't appriciate it. I now see the aftermarket had come up with mods to fix the problems that bugged me, i.e. Warn 424 2/4 wheel conversion and someone makes a front locker.
The reason I'm looking at AC is because the 250/300 is based on the Suzuki King Quad but it appears they have improved upon the design. I've read on here that the '01 models could be converted to have a locking front differential. Do these quads have disc brakes front and rear? Do they use single lever braking like a Polaris or is it independent? Do they use the rocker shifter... if so can it be modified to a regular shifter? Do they have a recoil back-up, big 5 gal tank and the triple range transmission?
Right now I'm leaning towards another Wolverine because I can mod it into the quad I wanted in the first place but I'm concerned about the single range transmission limiting my ability to run 25" tires as the stock low pro 23" tires suck. I wouldn't have the same tire concerns with the AC and I'm not too worried about power if it has the triple range gears. Im thinking I could get a good deal on a used AC and what I'd give up in sportyness I'd gain in savings from not having to mod.

I have a 1999, 300 4X4. I modified it so it has 2, 4, and 4 locked. Disc's front and back, single lever braking, and rocker shifter. No factory mod for this shifter. Has recoil backup, 5 gal fuel tank, and 3 range trans. It is a great quad, just a little underpowered having a 280cc engine in a 580 pound quad, but I still love mine.
