Checking oil level in 2001 AC 500 4X4
#1
Howdy Y'all. Nice forum you've got here
This is gonna sound crazy, but a buddy of mine just bought an Arctic cat 500 4X4, 2001 model we think.
He didn't get an owners manual with it, and we cannot for the life of us figure out how to check the engine oil.
There is no site glass, and where the oil fill plug is there is no dip stick. (seems there should be a dip stick there but it's not, just a plug)
Thanks in advance for any help.
Andy

First question is auto or manual trans? That said, on either the auto or manual is on the front right side of the transmission case. There should be a dipstick on the plug. The manual does have a sight glass on the right side about half way back on the trans.

Thanks for the info, I guess someone may have lost the original dip stick and replaced it with a plug.
The plug that's in it looks stock but doesn't look like it ever had a dipstick on it, and there is no sight glass.
Guess he'll have go to the dealer and get a new one.

sorry for the late reply. I have the same machine, auto, but there should be a dip stick under the cap for the oil. (Not sure of a difference between the auto and manual though....dont see the reason for one.) Good Luck
