plow setup; opinions please

I have one of the Moose 50" tapered blades that I use on my 1999 500 gear to push snow. Angling the blade to the right rolls the snow without running over it. Here in KS we usually have very wet snows so I doubt that I could push a 60". My driveways are from 20 to 30 feet wide and 500 feet long. I put 250 lbs of tractor weights in my tamarack box on the rear and use a modified set of motor grader chains. I leave my tractor in the shed because it digs through the rock in my driveway much worse than the light blade. I have not pushed snow with the 500 auto due to the fact the underbelly mount is different. I also use the front mounted winch to raise and lower the blade. the control is mounted on the right side by the reverse lever. I can use one motion of my right hand to raise the blade and shift into reverse. Another trick that I use is to reverse (swap left to right) my front tires. This allows me to get better traction backing up out of the ditch. Be shure to buy the optional angled dam that attaches to the left side if you get the tapered blade, it will save you time by not letting as much snow escape on the left.

I've tried backing it up too. The plow scrapes pretty bad. I also like closing the tailgate when hauling the quad. Seems like with the plow I'm a shade over 8-1' in length (8' truck bed).

That price seems like a good deal. I'd say you loose a good 2 1/2 to 3 inches of ground clearance where the eyelets for the push tubes hang down. I leave my bottom mount on in the winter, but find myself hitting it on rocks or dragging it if I go riding in my timber. It's a pretty good jolt if you catch it on a rock. If I were going on a long trail ride somewhere, I'd take it off.
