spring removal
#1
Is there a way to get the springs off of the shock? There is a little washer I guess you could say, that keeps the spring compressed. Does that come off? I have a 250 if that makes a difference.

Put the bottom end of shock in a vise. While pulling down on the spring with one hand, pull out the large slotted washer on top of the shock. Then slide out the spring. Was checking the shocks on my 375 and this is the way they came apart.....hope this helps!

Geeez be carefull - some of these springs have a heck of a preload on them and can be dangerous. There is a spring removal tool - Highlifter.com sells them with there HD spring kits. I changed the springs on my Polaris 500HO and the Arctic Cat 500's and it was like risking life and limb without that tool. WIth it and its a snap.

Yes,if you can't pull da spring down with one hand ,and pullthe washer out with the other, you definately need a spring removal tool.On the 375 ACT there is hardly any preload. Thanks for the caution warning....
