Default HELP FOR 650V2

Sounds like the belt reset procedure, have you done that yet? The 04's are known for generating eronious signals in the wiring that causes the belt reset to trip. First look in your owners manual and follow the belt reset procedure then either bring it in for the noise filter install or do the smart thing and buy a Dyna CDI, your machine will fly, no belt reset anbd no reverse override, best money I ever spent.

Default HELP FOR 650V2

I have never heard of a CDI or a coil that goes bad slowly, they work properly or they they don't work at all!! (AND BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!!), your dealer sounds like they have no clue or they are very smart and taking you for a ride. The 2004's also had a bad check valve on the fuel tank vent, I would check that first. My 04 650 had a bad needle and seat in one of the carbs and that made mine run very rough and it would back fire also. I would also change the spark plugs.

there is 2 ways the belt light works one way it comes on every hundred hours as a reminder to check your belt and the light stays on solid the 2nd is limp mode when it flashes it wont go over 5-10 mph until reset

Default HELP FOR 650V2

from what you describe it sounds to be the tank vent blocked if you hear pressure when the cap is removed without a dought its blocked and will cause the running condition your having also the choke plungers on the v2 stick and also cause it to run poorly as well but from the sounds of it its the vent
