I just recieved my 06 AC 500 auto (delivered right to my house). Since this is my first atv ever, i decided to take it for about a 10 min ride around the yard. There is this strong odor, it almost smells like burnt belt. Is this normal because it is brand new? or what

 

there is probably some type of cleaner or something on the exhaust that will make it do it, you didn't happen to put armorall or anything like that on the engine or exhaust, because that stuff will just melt off.

 

Possibly the paint burning off the exhaust.

 

It's normal.. no worries.. I'm thinking that the manual even says something about it or it used to.

Normal, if it continues after it has 200-300miles then it could be a problem.

Is this thing an automatic or a manual transmission?

This is a normal "smell" there is a rust inhibitor sprayed on from the factory over everything. It will linger for awhile until the atv gets hot enough to burn it off. Some are worse than others. It will go away.
