Just got an '06 400 4x4 AC Limited Edition
#1
I treated myself to an early X-Mas present and got the '06 400 4x4 AC Limited Edition with automatic transmission. I put on 30 miles so far and it's awesome. So much smooth power, quick off the start for a big machine (669 lbs) plus me (240lbs) and great ground clearance! I got it stuck in a creak (new trail I've never been on a didn't realize how deep it was or would have waited until after break in period). Anyway, I was in 2WD when I got stuck. Put it in 4WD and it easily climbed right out. I did hit so other mud (not mud bogging, just usual trail mud) and the ATV went through it all in 2WD. It's also quick on sharp turns which I didn't think this big of a machine could do - Again, great power on this ATV. This is a very solid machine!

Great Christmas present! Welcome to the club! You'll love the 400 - I do mine and like you, I'm no lightweight, (270lbs). It's nice to see they've lightened them up some - I wonder where? Mine, (with winch, front/rear bumpers and my Kimpex full of stuff is close to 1,000lbs. I had it roll over on me and let me tell ya...
Anyway - enjoy your new ride - sounds like you already are!

I bought it at Gander Mountain in Greensboro, NC. I was hesitant about buying from a retailer, but I talked to the Mechanics there and they have years of riding experience and told me what to look for. Surprisingly they told me to also look for Bombardier and stay away from Polaris (what I was looking at oringinally). Funny too b/c one of the mechanics ride a polaris but doesn't like it. They did tell me AC was a solid machine. My local Cat dealer didn't have any and said he would call around to other dealers and get when for me, but it would take a while...I then asked him if he would call Gander Mtn. since they had them in stock and he said that could be one of the dealers he would call if his other dealers didn't have one. The bike is really awesome though!!!

Thanks -- I live about 3 hours from there and may give them a call. Our "big" dealer is crazy with the prices he is asking for 2005 models. He has some new 04 models left and now I know why--good luck with your quad.

I bought it for $6900 out the door for the limited edition. The regular edition was $6303 out the door. Gander Mtn. charges $69 for dealer prep, $139 for shipping, and 7% tax. One dealer wanted to sell me a 2005 which would have been about $400 cheaper for the regular version, but only had a 2-yr warrenty vs. 3 yr, smaller gas tank, and storage was in the rear vs. up front like the '06 has. The '06 is also slightly larger all the way around. I rode about 35 miles on it today in the rain and it was great.
