Default Why does it pop?

I have an 04 Arctic cat 500 4x4. When i start it up I have to use the primer botton on the side of the carb. after its running at an idle it will pop (i think back through the carb) a few times and then die. I changed the spark plug and emptied the carb (had some water in it) and it still does it. Only on idle though. Can anyone help me out?

Its too lean on the idle circuit. Have you tried turning the mixture screw out ...1/4 turn or so?

I gotta agree with hondabuster. I did a bunch of research on this and the consenses (65 lean-35 rich) is lean is usually the cause of this. Damn, that is almost painful to give up one of the givens in life.
