yeah it matters on a manual. you can go up to the air intake under the seat. any higher than that then your gonna suck some water. my pictures show an H1 in the water/mud hole, if you look close enough his bike has a home made snorkel system(black pvc about 10 inches high in the front left.) the first time in that hole he sucked water in to the air intake and belt. after that day it wouldnt run right and had to be rebuilt. (note: the bike had 7 miles on it.) now with my manual 500, i have never had any issues in that particular hole. the water doesnt come close enough to the air intake.

meatdogspot, the deep tread mudlights are the tire every one likes better. last longer and better in the mud. i think they are the XL(extra large lug).

hey weez, how many oil changes to get all of the water out after drowning it?

mudslinginfool - what size tires do you have on your 500? How would those work on a 500 auto? What would be a good size?

hey mud after about 4 oil changes i got upset when it was still milky and my dad told me about an ancient chinese secret he told me how keroseane is just basically a really light oil so i filled it up to specs with keroseane started it up put it in gear let it idle about 4 feet forward slaped it into reverse just let it roll about 4 feet back and shut it off. the keroseane pulled out all the water and i dumped it and there wasn't anymore milkyness in the oil. word of caution if you do this don't touch the throttle and don't let it run for more then 30 seconds but it did work great then another thing i did was i replaced both spark plugs and cleaned the air filter and away i went again.

Weez440, I did the same thing to my 05 500 manual. I used SeaFoam after I drained the oil 3 times and the seafoam helped remove all the water out of the engine. runs great with no problems.

for tires I got the mudlight XTR's and there awesome.

meatdogspot- they are 27' 589's. i think mine are big enough. ive broke 2 axles so far. both were my fault though. i was being stupid on some boulders. gotta love the extended warrenty!!

weez-i did the same thing this past summer and it took 9 oil changes. (used cheapest oil from wal-mart) let it idle for about 10 minutes between each one. final one i used some slick 50,just about one fourth of the bottle. changed the plug as well. its up and running the same as always. lesson learned !
