I'm trying to help a friend with his machine.(I know, that's my first mistake) Anyways, this has a problem with erratic spark. I did a resistance check on the coil, which was good. I also swapped coils with my machine, which did not change anything.
Can anyone provide me with the resistance checks for the rest of the ignition? Are these engines known to have any ignition problems? Thanks in advance

 

What is it doing? They are not known for spark related problems. Give us more info to work with and someone will come up with an answer.

 

It's running rough @ all speeds. I checked the carb (it was clean & all passages are open), checked compression(145 psi).
I put my timing light on the plug wire, the light flashes erraticly & the engine misses show up with the light. Leads me to beleive that it's an ignition problem. I also changed the plug & tried swapping the coil. Now I'm lost without specs.

hello im new to this so take it easy on me. I have a 2001 250 4x4 and i have also been having ing. problems. But on mine there is no spark at the plug and the voltage from the cdi box to the coil is like 1.27 volts. Is that to low is my cdi box out , how do i tell?

THANKS BEAR4570 I RECEIVED THE EMAIL AND WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT. IF IT IS THE CDI BOX DO YOU KNOW WHERE I COULD GET ONE. I DONT CARE WEATHER ITS NEW, USED, OR PERFORMANCE. IT HAS BEEN DOWN TOO LONG AND I HAVENT EVEN RODE IT SINCE I GOT IT ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I HOPE THESE CATS ARE WORTH ALL THE TROUBLE.

 

A dealer would be your best bet, but you can find all kinds of deals on the internet. The 250 CDI is Part # 3530-024 and list for $304.36. I don't know of any after market CDI fo the 250.
