snow plow mounting location
#1
For those people that have snow plows where do they mount? I am going to make one out of an old sears scrape blade. Thought about using the bolts that hold on the foot rests. Should have done this last summer, I did not expect it to snow in North Carolina this early.
Thanks,

My Moose bottom mount is a plate that covers the bottom of the frame\skidplate from footpeg to footpeg. It uses u-bolts to attach it to the 2 footpeg supports on each side (4 u-bolts total). The plate then has 4 ears welded on, 2 for each bar of the push tube which a pin goes thru to attach the push tube. It is a very strong setup. My first test was pushing frozen piles of dirt back into a trench to level a front yard. I was amazed at the strength of the plow setup & also the strength of the AC 500 in pushing. In low range & 4 wheel drive, the Cat never spun it's tires or bogged down. If something had to give, the blade leaned forward on the springs until it popped over what was holding it. Eventually I was able to scrape all of the dirt back into the trench (much easier than with a shovel!!!). I saw the snow you guys got out there, wish we had that here, I probably jinxed myself by buying the plow, now it won't snow here at all this year.
Good luck with your fabrication.
