arctic cat 400 vs vinson
#1
which one would be the better quad for mud. i know the arctic cat has diff lock but not really worried about that the vinson on the other hand has no diff lock but has an 100cc over the 400 and a lot of torque. what do ya'll think.

The important thing about the mud riding is ground clearance. What usually determines if the quad makes it thru or not, is whether or not you get hung up on low clearance areas. I think both of them have about the same ground clearance, and both are solid axle. If you step up to an irs quad, youll gain lots more ground clearance.
The vinson doesnt have a manually locking front diff, but it does have a very good, torque sensing front diff, and it will send the torque to the tire that has traction, provided that the other tire has some resistance.
Of the two you mentioned, the vinson is the hot rod, and much better handling machine. In a race down the trail, itll be no contest.

Actually the Vinson only has 9.9" of ground clearance compared to the AC's 12", at least according to Suzuki. So the locker and the extra ground clearance will more than make up for the 125cc engine advantage.

My brother has an 05 400, and its got the ACT swingarm, and 7.2 inches of ground clearance. I assumed the post was comparing apples to apples, and thought he was refferring to the ACT 400. The vinson has 7.8 inches of clearance. So if you want the a/c 400...go irs.
Anyway, my thoughts are the same..irs for ground clearance will do more for getting thru mud, than ccs.
