advice- which 4x4 to buy
#1
although i'm loving my new 650i, we're in the market for another four wheeler. we're selling our old 300 honda 4x4 and getting a newer (but still used) four wheeler. it's for my younger brother who is 18. we were thinking about vinson 500 manual, prarie 700 or suz twin peaks 700(same thing right?) any other suggestions for a fast fun quad. irs can go either way, would love a diff lock up front or at least a good stock diff. would prefer a 4x4 you can switch into without moving. that way we can play till we get stuck in 2wd and get ourself out. with my new brute, you have to switch ahead of time. that's not the most important feature though.
so i have two questions
1. can you think of any other quads we should also be looking at, maybe polaris 500? another?
2. what can you tell me pros and cons wise of these two quads? like will chip wake one up soo much it's worth getting (like the kind quad 700 suppose to be a beast chip when it comes out) any little thing you can tell me would be helpful.
also if i did get a vinson, are there certain years which have more features or more power/better gearing.
please bore me with too much info. that's what we need. thanks alot, jason

can he handle a 700 or is it just overkill for him, something he could hurt himself on? and a 700 might be a waste of money to i dunno how much seat time he has. i think i would go with the 500 vinson of those that you named from what i hear it is a good solid machine that is a blast to drive. as for polaris well i will get flak for saying this but they are a high maintanance machine!! ok i will leave that at that. if you wanna play in the mud i wouldn't rule out the 500 cat either locking front diff most ground clearance MRP rack switch on the fly 4x4. the vinson and most machines will outrun it on tight trails but the cat will claw it's way through the mud further then any other machine specially if you put good agressive tires on it. oh and if you put 6-ply tires on they handle 100 times better on the trails to.

The two 700's you mentioned are the exact same, just different stickers on them And yes, a new CDI bos would really wake up them, or so I think. The Vinson doesn't have a diff lock. Since you posted this in the Arctic Cat section, I will say to look at the Arctic Cat 500 (same engine as the Vinson) and the 650. Arctic Cats are great in the mud
Just be careful when you get any used ATV, some have really been abused so check them out good.
Good luck!
