Artic cat 950??
#1
I was at my dealer (Artic Cat, Can-Am) a few days ago and we were talking about power. He said that Artic cat was coming out with a 950cc motor. He said it was being developed another company, but I can't remember the name. Is there any facts behind this rumor? That seems really large for an atv.

There are several states (including MN, Arctic Cats home state) that will not license an ATV for trails if it is bigger than 800cc. If there is a 950cc coming, and I personally have my doubts, look for it in machines like the Prowler.

It is true, Arctic Cat is building the engine its self

My dealer had exactly the same story a couple of months ago - 950 Twin (type not specified). Also didn't know to which machine it was going, but Prowler is good guess.
He also said that AC really didn't want to do it, but that they really needed to do something to get back on the front page. He also said in talking to AC's engineers, they never really liked the V2 because the company was never happy with the frequency of repair for that engine. He personally didn't like working on the V2 since there was so little space to work on it, particularly compared to the single cylinder models (of course).
If I was in charge of AC marketing, I'd put it in the Prowler, and offer a "detuned" version (800cc) in the utility quads. I'd then sell a barrel and piston kit through the dealer network to enlarge the 800 to 950. EFI of course.
