I remeber about 6 months ago there was a post about fliping the tie-rod ends to reduce the the bump steer. I want to try this. I don't notice the bump steer but I'm fixing to install my lift kit and I know that the front wheels will point inward because of it so I want to flip them while I install the lift kit. I've talked to people who didn't want the lift kit cause after installing it on the there Arctic Cat 500's the wheel alignment made it handle bad.

So does anyone have info on this?
Am I fliping the right part?

 

The only topic I found was from sxr6 May27,2000 about bump-steer 500s. Another topic was from fourlix about a similar steering modification.
I am not sure if this was the same information or mod you were looking for.

I did this to my 300 to improve handleing. If you push the front of your machine up & down you will notice the front wheels will go from toe out to toe in, not good for handleing. In order for steering geomitry to be correct the A-arms & steering rods must be parallel. The easiest way to acomplish this is to flip outer steering rod joint & install it up from bottom. Now align wheels with slight toe out, you will see that when you flex front suspension now wheels stay in alignment.

 

Well did it give you a notice able difference?

 

On fast mogol type roads or slower rough trails, Yes, the steering remains more constant. If your just puting around on trails & don't push your bike it's probably not worth the effort.

 

Well I do alot of putting around when mud riding, but I spend more time giveing the cat hell at 45+ mph than mud riding-- so I'll probaly try it.
