Tounge Hitch Question
#1
I need some advice. I have a 2005 Arctic Cat 4X4 with a tounge hitch. When I put a ball on the hitch it slants down. Is there a way of adjusting the bracket so ball sits level or could this be a factory defect?
Thanks.

Ifm,
If your machine is an IRS machine and the tongue you are refering to welded to the frame below your rear tail light where you mount the ball hitch to. Then I would guess that the tongue has been bent some how.
If it has a solid rear axle, I do not know enough about what it looks like to say if its bent but that is what I would suspect.
If its not bent too much it shouldn't be anything to worry about. If it has a warranty on it and yo have never towed anything I would take it to a dealer.
FYI, I fabricated in an evening a 2" reciver hitch that bolts on instead of the ball and now I use any 2" receiver stinger. Very easy make and cost about $12 total plus my time.

are you talking about the 2' reciever or the old style? if its the old style it could be bent down slightly. look for cracked paint. if its the new 2' reciever style then i have no idea why it would be bent down.

I'm not sure of the model, however, I'm sure the hitch is not a reciever. I spoke with the dealer yesterday. He told me I have a solid axle and they all slant down.
A while ago, I purchased a 2" reciever hitch. It boltes to the "ball hole" on the factory bracket. Since the "bolt on" receiver extends outward, the slant is magnified.
So now the bandaid solution. I heated up the "bolt on" receiver bracket and bent it so it sits level.
I've been trying to resolve this with Arctic Cat for 1 1/2 years. No phone calls have been returned! Needless to say, they could improve their customer relations.
Thanks.

My 2001 AC 250 came without a reciever hitch, So I added one and it wasn't a bolt on. We welded up one and it didn't slant down. Yes, the solid axle or VP versions have the hitch as part of the skid plate for the differential and it does slope downward. So put a wedge under your bolt on receiver.
