AC 500?
#12
That was the case when I bought both of my machines and I figured it was still true Toe.
Oh, get this, a while back I had the opportunity to talk to an AC dealer and I asked him if there was any truth to the rumor of AC getting rid of ther manual 400and 500 trannies?
He said he had a similar discission at some dealers convention and the general idea he got from other dealers and AC reps from wherever was this: That the general riding community was too lazy to want to think about what gear they were in so they bought auto's instead. AC must produce those machines that sell the most to make the most $. He added that he thought that the general public was too lazy AND stupid to ride a manual tranny.
He also added that he may stop selling AC's 4-wheelers if they drop the manual tranny and try to stay with snow machines. He ended with AC or any ATV manufacturer must see that there are people who like a manual tranny and they would loose a piece of the market if they stopped making them. (although it is a small piece of the market)

I had a manual, and am neither to lazy, or stupid to shift a manual. I just think an auto out performs a manual. I doubt they will discontinue manual trannies. If someone wants a manual 500, instead of an auto, then get one. The "stupid" people are the ones who whine about the auto trannies out numbering the manuals. Who cares, ride a manual if you want to. They are both good trannies.

I have two jeeps my 2000 Cherokee is auto and my 1994 wrangler is a standard, my ATV history is one semi auto Yamaha YTM 200 and a Polaris scrambler.
I like shifting but wasn't that good on my ytm , but in my jeeps standard is defiantly better off-road control. I started out 4 wheeling in a bronco 2 auto then went to a auto cj-7 and my 94 yj has better control even thou it has the smallest engine 2.5with a standard trans.
My ytm I only road twice and still have it up my brother in-laws because it wont run right.

I have never slipped a belt on mine in spite of severe abuse including digging four holes when attempting to pull things that didn't want to be pulled (deer stands, stuck wheelers, cars, ect...). I have done this more than once, and never slipped or burned a belt.
