fuel guage not working
#1
The fuel guage on my 07 500 auto stopped working shortly after I purchase it and I am aware of a couple of other A/c's which have had the same problem. I was just wondering how common the problem is and is there a proper and permanent fix for it. Frase

I have a 2006 650 that had the same problem. I took it to my dealer and he said that the fuel guage doesent work on alot of the AC that he sells. It seems that the connection is bad and must be fixed on the sender or in the tank. He fixed mine Ross

I just purchased a new 400LE today and the first thing we checked was the fuel guage and it did not work properly. The mech sanded the connections and we were in business Ross

Regarding the malfunction of fuel gauge, it does not have to be the sensor, I got mine fix by the dealer and they informed me that it was due to one of the diods being installed in the wrong "direction" (ie, allowing current to pass only the "wrong" direction").
Other symptoms cured by this (if that is what was actually done) was poor output / bluddering engine. This especially occured on L range, it was as when you go in reverse quick but do not press the over ride button. This is how the engine behavied, but in L range.
Anyway, this may possibly help someone in which case I am happy.

My 03 400 has never been accurate, I go by my odometer, (and I carry a 2.5 gal can), I know I can get between 100-120 miles from a full tank, depending on type of riding, so at around 60 miles I know it is time to start heading back.
I can take my cap off and look inside my tank to see how much fuel I have and if it is too dark I can just strike a match (or flick my bic) for more light - lol
