Plows

Just wondering how much trouble it is to put a moose plow and manual lift kit on my Y2K 500 auto.
Has anyone done it? The dealer wants 50 bucks to install it and I have to leave my quad for a few days. Any advise would be helpfull.
Thanks SLY

I'm not sure about the manual lift as I use a winch, but the bottom mount that comes with the Moose uses 4 u-bolts to hold it to the foot peg brackets & it's installed! One 9/16" wrench or socket & you're there. After you bolt up the bottom mount(& your manual lift), you hook the assembled plow to the lift, lift it up enough to be able to move it around a little, line up the holes in the push tube with the holes in the bottom mount, put the pins in & the plow is hooked up.
Assembling the plow itself takes about 1 hour, basic hand tools, no problem if you have any mechanical sense at all.

i just bought an artic cat plow for a manual tranny and i really like it.a 48 inch plow is plenty big enought if you have a lot of snow or it is wet, with the plow angled it will push the front of the atv all over.you might want see where the frame of the plow mounts,to the foot pegs or to a bracket in the center of the atv,i prefer hooking to the foot pegs, less sway from the plow.

This may be to late, but I agree with catlance. The plow is so easy to install! You can do it.
If you get the winch mount, it will make the whole operation that much easier.
Even if you have the dealer install, be sure to re-tighten your hardware after your first couple of uses.
