Find one that a retired 'ol-fart' had that kicked the bucket and buy it from his widow, for pennies on the dollar. Chance are that she won't want to look at it because it was his (sentimental thing) and will just about give it away.

I believe you can get a brand new arctic cat 400 4x4 automatic for around $5500 or can get a brand new 500 4x4 automatic for around $6200. IMO, I would try to buy new if at all possible because you will get at least a warranty and won't be buying someone elses problems. Someone might say the machine was never abused, but only time will tell and that is usually after you buy it. I think the extra $200 is worth getting a new unit with a warranty. Just my thoughts.

As far as reliability, no problem with the arctic cat 400, 500 or 650H1 as far as I have heard or seen. And like already mentioned, you won't have to add a lift kit or anything else other than maybe more aggressive tires. Arctic cats have the highest ground clearance and wheel travels of all manufactured atv's in the 400-700cc range. If you get stuck with an arctic cat, you will get stuck with everything else. Hope this helps and keep us informed.

I picked up my '07 400 auto 4x4 w/ Brush gaurd & drop rack for $6100(includes taxes and all the other bs). They've got rebates and different financing options going on.Mines a month old and I've put it thru the paces. So far I can't imagine buying any other atv.As stated above...A more aggresive tire is needed.

I used to like huge tires, but now realize they put major strain on the drive train systems. That is why I only go up to 27" on my big bores and on my brothers 360 prairie he stayed with 25" mud bugs. I would think with an Arctic Cat having such great ground clearance that 26" or 27" tires would compliment it and not put strain on anything and still have their great ground clearance. I believe tires like the EDL's and Mudzillas and Outlaws will put major strains on all quads made and if your problems with the rinny were breaking drive train components, then switching brands won't help unless you put on aftermarket components. Just a thought.

Have you checked any arctic cat dealers in your area for prices on the ac400 and ac500? They might be willing to deal since the 2008 models are about to arrive.
