Susuki/AC question?
#1
hey all,
just wondering if the 500 motor used in the vinson is the same one AC uses?I just bought a used 06 Vinson 500 4x4 auto with 130 miles. If you can believe that! The people had 2 for sale, and the other one had only 120 miles.Anyway got a pretty good deal, and it seems like a strong quad. Also the bike sat for a long time, and the battery is not holding a charge. It's a sealed battery type. The bike does have a winch on it,everything seems wired correctly?Just wondering if the battery is done because it sat so long?Other than that it seems like a good quad, even though i don't have independent rear,or a locking front diff.Hey i figure i got the winch if i get in that much trouble.Ok any help given would be great, thanks.

I THINK THE SUZUKI MAKES THE MOTORS FOR THE ARTIC CATS MY EIGER 4X4 DONT HAVE LOCKING DIFF UP FRONT BUT HAS NOT BEEN A PROBLEM IT IS EASYIER TO STEER. ON THE BATTERY JUST GO TO A FLET FAR OR A WALMART AND PICK ONE UP MEASURE YOUR BATTERY ,YOU MIGHT NOT SEE THE CORRECT MODEL NUMBR BUT IT YOU CAN FIND THE 12VOULT ATV BATTERY THAT WILL FIT. THATS ALL YOU NEED

What kind of winch? Some of the Warn winches had a recall because they were draining the batteries.
500 AC vs Suzuki, I am not positive but I think they are the same basic engine, maybe with a little different carb/jetting and/or camshaft.
I put a Walmart battery in mine and had the part number if I can find it I will let you know.
Be careful putting it in the '+' and '-' are opposite sides and you could wire it backwards, if you do there is a 30 amp fuse that will blow (located near your right rear tire).

Hey thanks for the info,i got a 2500 Warn.Let me know if this helps and also it was apparently put on in 06.I'm sure the guy bought all set-up like this. This bike is super clean man i can't be happier, and plenty of power for this "Piney".I realy did wan't independent rear and a locking front diff, but the deal was good! And besides that winch will get me out of trouble anyway. What do you think of the "high lifter"2in.kits?Will it cause to much stress on the driveline?I don't plan going any bigger than the stock 25 in.tires.I also thought about Elka shocks which will help in the ground clearance, but that seems xpensive.Just thought it would be nice to have a bit more GC.Let me know about that part#for the battery, and maybe i'll get there this weekend and get one.It probably is the battery because when the battery sits for a long time don't the plates go bad in the battery and when you charge it,it won't last because you only charging a couple of the plates that are still good?Ok Buck, let me know, cheers.

I actually went to this site 'Rocky Mountain' and found the battery, then I printed the page and went to Walmart and they sold me the same battery that listed for $43.00 for $26.99 The model number for my AC is xx14L-A2 (the 'xx' can be any letters).

I have Highlifter springs on the back only. I don't think I got any lift. What it did was allow me to run the rear suspension on the lowest setting instead of the middle setting as I did with the stock springs. Maybe if I cranked them up I would see a lift, I don't know 'cause I never tried it.
A lift kit with SRA won't do too much for you, the axle will still be the same height off the ground, you would raise the belly though and it will help some as long as you can get the rear axles through without having them hang up.
I don't remember which model of Warn winch that had the recall... you may try and do a search on the forum because I know someone talked about which model was on the recall list - or you can go to the Warn web site and see if anything is listed there about the recall. If I remember correctly there was even a danger of the winch causing a fire.. not possitive but I think that is what I remember - lol... Suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Sh_t).
Chumley is this ok?

Lift kit for a straight axle quad will only net you more GC if you use the added body clearance to mount larger tires. If you're gonna stick with the stock tire size, don't bother with the 2" lift kit.
