NEW ATV JUST ARRIVED
#1
I JUST GOT MY "NEW" 2007 ARCTIC CAT 500 4X4 DELIVERED TODAY. I HAD IT DELIVERED FROM HEINENS ATV IN MINNESOTA TO TEXAS. I WAS ON PINS AND NEEDLES UNTIL I GOT IT OFF OF THE DELIVERY TRUCK. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS LONGER THAN THEY SAID IT WOULD BUT IT IS FINALLY HERE. I HAVEN`T GOT TO RIDE IT YET BECAUSE OF MY WORKING SCHEDULE BUT I AM PLANNING TO ON MY NEXT DAY OFF. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON DIFFERENT WEB SITES AND TALKING TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE BEFORE I DECIDED ON THIS ATV. I THINK I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION. I BOUGHT IT FOR 4999.98 PLUS 400.00 FOR SHIPPING AND ANOTHER 150.00 FOR MISC. SET UP ( NO SALE TAX FOR OUT OF STATE SALES) FOR A TOTAL OF $5550.00 . I COULDN`T FIND ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT WHERE I LIVE. EVEN BASS PRO WAS $1000.00 HIGHER AND IT WAS THE END OF YEAR CLEARANCE SALE. I AM GOING TO NEW MEXICO IN THREE WEEK AND WILL GIVE IT A GOOD WORKOUT. IT WON`T BE BROKEN IN YET SO I WILL HAVE TO BE GENTLE (DAMN). IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE OR SUGGESTIONS LET ME KNOW. If your 07 has goodyear rawhide rs tires like my 07 has you might want to take a tire repair kit out with you on your ride. I already ripped a dime sized hole in one of mine and when they patched the tire I noticed that the tires are real thin. Just a heads up, have fun.

Welcome to the AC family.
That is a good idea to take it easy. Remember you didn't steal it, you spent some hard earned money. I would pretty much do as the manual says with the addition of shutting if off and letting it cool down about every 10-15 miles (at least for the first 100 miles or so), this will allow your rings to contract and expand properly. I would not do a top end run until after 100 miles but it is ok to do wide open throttle to a certain mph like 20 then 25 then 30 then 35 etc each time let it come back down to idle and let it cool down.
First, and second oil change it is a good idea to drop the skid plate and clean the oil screen too. It should start to come to life around 300 miles or so.
Good luck and enjoy, you got a good machine.
You may want to check out my post "How to make the AC handle better" it is on about the 4th page or so. Some pretty good tips in there.

Welcome aboard man! I have an 06 400 that is only a couple months old now and the machine is amazing! I absolutley love everything about it. Make sure you break it in properly. Do like Buckaroo said and you'll be fine! I didn't baby it like the manual wants you to, but I didn't abuse it either, and the thing is starting to wake up already! Have fun and ride safe!
