newbie here, do you have to stop to put it in 4wd?

Looking at the differences between the Polaris AWD system and Cat's 4WD system and was wondering if you must stop to engage (and disengage) the diff lock on the cat. If so it seems this would be kind of a pain. On the Polaris the diff lock is there at a moments notice at all times. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Polaris does not have a locking system I believe. On the cat you can enguage the 4 wheel drive where one wheel drives at a time in the front. Then you can lock it so both wheels drive.
I stop when I do either or but I heard of switching to 4WD on the fly but you always have to stop to lock the wheels, and never on hard surfaces.

I see, you have the option of limited slip in the front which is shift on the fly or lock it up, that clears it up, thanks.

If you have ever rode a quad with the diff lock engaged, you would know why it sucks to ride on regular terrain. Also, its hard on the machine on dry trail riding, and very hard to steer.
