Does the AC500 Auto have engine compression braking as on the new Sportsman 500 H.O.? Still researching before the big purchase.

Yes it does, and it works quite well, especially in low range.

I agree, the Auto has excellent compression breaking, especially in 4-low. A lot depends on the severity of the hill you're descending of course, but I've been down a few rather steep hills, where I actually have to give it gas to keep moving. In all honesty though, with the 27" 'Claws, it does take a tad bit away, in my opinion. Only reason I say this is because I was out riding today with a buddy of mine. Anyway, he has never ridden before in his life, so I had to drive my Dad's stock 'Cat down a couple REALLY steep hills for him. I don't blame him, these were steep, but it seemed like I used the breaks on my 'Cat with the bigger meats a little more than on my dad's, with the stock 489's. Of course, with them being not only taller, but wider in the rear, and a lot heavier, it should take a little more to stop. Still works great though.
