I'm just curious about how everyone likes their quad. I have checked them out in the past. I saw a local dealer ad today. It was for a 300 4x4, 4x8 tilt trailer, Warn winch, helmet, tax, freight, set up and first service for $0 down, $139 a month.

That got me interested again. I called the dealer and they said they could do it with a 250 4x4 too. I'm wandering if this is a factory deal? Either way, it don't sound bad.

Anyways, how do you rate your quad? I just feel a little un-easy with the 4 wheel independent suspension. It feels like it would have great rock-hounding ability, but terrible body roll cornering with any speed. I ride hard and fast in every spot I can, I just wonder how the top speed is? Also, it looks like there are a lot of expensive pieces that could really add up for any repairs. How is the reliability?

duster,

i give my cat an A+++++++, get one and you will see. the suspension is independent up front but semi independent in the rear due to the solid axle design. the s.i rear beats the pants off of a trailing arm and still allows for sport performance while maintaining its utility purpose.
as for body roll, it is not as much as a full indep. susp. but it does take a little getting used to--believe me i had first hand (as well as arm, back, torso, and humility) experience.
i think cowboy and boner can tell you many stories about what they put their cat's through--both man and machine survived. plus, don't worry about parts for quite some time because arctic cats are built to last--just like ford trucks (just had to put that little thought in there).

my redneck thoughts,
ac 500 4x4 auto always cocked, locked, and ready to rock.

I would not recomend an Arctic Cat to you, I think you should look into the Scrambler series if you want a fast 4wd. IF they are not utility enought look in to the Grizzly, but I don't think they Cats will be near sporty enought for you.

If you are coming off of a warrior, then an Arctic Cat is really not the thing you would be after. No speed, and handling is not in the same ball park. I would say to check out the scrambler line like Boner said, and if you are worried about reliability, check out a Wolverine. Those would be the best case scenario's. Still fast, but still have 4wd. The scramblers will outrun the wolverine, but it has no chain to worry about, and is put together a bit better.

Good luck.

I agree with Boner, and Andy. I have a 1999 400 Scrambler 4x4, and my dad has a 2000 AC 400 4x4. They are right that the AC's are not the most sporty bikes out there. My Scrambler in my opinion is the most sporty 4x4 that you can buy. It is the fastest and most agile 4x4 that you can buy. But it is not what I would call a utility. The only way that you could say that it is a utility is because of the 4x4. And I know from riding my dads 400 AC that it is a beast. They can pull just about anything and the lowend torque is unreal(and it is a blast to ride). And you comming from a Warrior would be more at home with a Scrambler(my 400 will knock the socks of the warriors abround here and out drag a slightly modified 400ex's). But if you are looking to go to a strictly utility bike I feel that the AC is a great choice.

I have a question about the A.C. is it full time 4wd or can you drive in 2wd and switch into 4wd like the scramblers.I'm looking into getting a 4wd A.C. 250 and the on demand system would probably push me over the edge and make me buy one.

The 400 AC 4x4 is all time FWD. It still rides good and stears fairly easy for being full time FWD.

I've got a 2001 250 4wd and it comes from the factory as an all time 4wd, but it has the same front differential as the 300 4wd. All you have to do is add the shifter kit that AC is offering as an upgrade. I'd bet it'll be standard for 2002 model 250 4wd's. Overall this is a great "utility" quad. I have absolutely no regrets of picking AC and the 250 4x4 specifically. I only weigh 165-170 depending and it will do anything I've put at it so far.

I negotiated in the quad, shifter kit, warn 2000 winch(free at time), and a couple of oil filters for right at 4300 including tax. (It MSRP's at 4399 +tax) Don't let anyone bs you on set up fees on an AC. The dealer I went to does not charge this because he said it was pure unfair profit. I helped him get it out of the crate. All that had to be done was put the acid in the battery, hook up battery cables, and put gas in it. It was absolutely completely assembled. (Except for winch that I put on myself)

Let us know what you decide.

Depends on the number of payments on that AC 250 or 300 4x4! The 4x8 trailer could be gotten at Wal-Mart for around $225-$250.
