Default plastic screws on radiator cover

I am trying to remove the plastic screws that hold the plastic cover plate over my radiator. It is the cover plate on the front end where you fill the radiator. Anyone know how to remove them when they just spin? They are very cheap and I would think AC could come up with a better system that this.

They suck. Start by using the philips screwdriver to turn them, then pry a regular one underneith the plastic screw and pop it out. If that doesn't work take a needle nose plyers and just pull it out. Yup, that is where the radiator cap is.

Yes I agree, they are pretty cheap. The way that I remove them is to take my pocket knife, and as I turn the center phillips screw head to the left, put the blade under the head and gently pry upward. Keep in mind that the fastener is two parts and you have to remove the center screw before the outter keeper will allow the cover to come off. I hope this helps.

There has to be a way to use a different setup. They should have used the setup like they used on the plastic piece above it. The one that you just pry up to remove. It works alot better than having a phillips head that just spins. I am going to explore other options and will post one if I get a revelation.

Go to a hardware store or ace, Home depot and get a anker called molly bolt. You need one for a thin wall thickness like 1/8 and the biggest screw 3/16 You put the molly in the plastic and then pull the screw up tight. Then remove the screw and put the cover in place and replace the screw. Before putting the screw in the first time lube the screw with something so the molly will open up easy
