Default arcticcat wont start

i have a 2000 arcticcat 300 atv that wont start. When i try to start it all it does is crank. I changed the sparkplug and it does have spark.Any have any other ideas of what i should try? Could it be bad gas in the carb? How hard is it to get the carb off? thanks

Yep.. it takes two things to make the engine run, spark and fuel. If you got spark, then you don't have fuel going through the carb. Why? good question. I am not familiar with the 2000 yr. But I doubt it is too hard to get the carb off. If you can get to the bowl of the carb, open the drain screw on the bottom and check to see if fuel leaks out. If nothing comes, or just a little bit, then there is a good chance you have something clogging it up in there. I have 4 quads. This year 2 of the smaller machines my kids ride have both clogged up and stopped fuel from going through. The clogs were so small I never really did see them. I took them apart and used compressed air to blast them clean. Put them back on and it worked like a charm. Good Luck

you need air too dan. no air/oxygen ,means no combustion. most likely the air filter is fine. probably the fuel like you said though.

need compression too. if you dont compress the air/fuel it wont burn

if you were getting fuel and it wasnt starting it can "wash" down the cylinder walls meaning that it cleans all the oil off the walls and you can loose some compresion and i've seen motors that are already weak not start once the cylinder is washed down.

if you find out that you have fuell and spark try a compression test. you should be able to rent a tester from an auto parts store and once you return it you get your money back. i dont know the spec for your machine bit 100psi is kind if a rule of thumb. if you have weak compression you need to do a wet test which is putting a little bit of oil in the cylinder and redo the test. if you have compresion then you know that the cylinder walls or the rings are at fault. if still no compression the its bent, burned, or stuck valve, head gasket, hole in the piston, that kind of thing.
