well i have bought a brand spankin new 2001 AC 500 manual.....all i have to say is that i am VERY pleased!!!! it has a hell of alot more power than my POS grizz.i think i might have a problem with it already (bad sign) when its in gear, and i hit the throttle and get to a certain RPM i hear this loud rattling...i have no idea WTF it is.boner told me it might be a bolt loose (i hope)the lights are very bright (but r loose)it cranks right up,very good throllt response, and im gonna gett he reg shifter. i HATE the rocker shifter. its a biotch to shift from gear to gear.i love the reverse lever shifts REAL smoothly.and i can be stopped and putr it in 5th gear low and still accerlate easily...even in high! i love this thing...i just hope it doesnt end up like my grizz..A POS!!!!!!!!
PS thanks for everyone input (espically Boners) thanks man
William
PSS i will have picks of it soon!!!

The Rattle you hear is more than likely the gas gauge. They are notorious for rattling. also the little square piece of plastic over the radiator can rattle at times. Both are easy fixes. Just put a piece of friction tape on the mating lips of the radiator cover and that fixes it. the gas gauge rattle will go away with time, as the gauge vibrates it seems to wear off the part that causes the noise. At least it did on mine. To check and see if it's the gas guage place your hand on it when you hear the rattle and see if it goes away.

I also had a rattleing on my exhast heat sheild. I thought that wasn't it, cause I had tigthened up all the visible bolts, till my grandfather proved me wrong by simply applying presure to the shield and the virbation stoped. I looked behid the rear fender an there was another bolt and it was the lose one. My biggest mistake was riding stright home and with out letting it cool off I tired to tigthen it. Broke it right off. The dealer was able to remove the broken part and replace the bolt and it has never came lose since.

The rattling heat shield can be fixed by removing it and cleaning up the bolts, throwing away the cheap factory lockwashers, and replacing them with "normal" lockwashers and a generous supply of green loctite. Gone will be the annoying rattling. Usually the bolt that comes loose is the one at the rear of the shield, which happens to be the hardest to get at. Aczr2k

Congrats Grizz on your new purchase! I had a few rattles at first, a couple squeaks as well, in a few different places when brand new. Everything has gone away now with nearly 800 hard working miles. No noises other than the engine, tranny now. So did they ever figure out what was wrong with your Grizzly, or are they still awaiting a new manual and parts????
Anyway, hope the 'Cat works out great for your working needs, and hope the dealer takes better care of the 'Cat than he did with the Grizz!
