How big can i go?

I just purchased a artic cat 500i 4x4 manual shift. I am looking for more grip than stock obviously, and have a set of 30x12x12 itp mud light xxls on my previously running brute, motor blew. I was just wondering if anyone knew if they would fit on my cat without a lift. And even if i got a lift for it would the 500 pull them?
I am planning on getting a pipe, jet kit, and air filter. Any response welcome.

Anything over 27" require a lift kit. Some wont even take 27", arctic cat will take a 27" and smaller. I dont even think they recommend anything over 27" with a 700cc or smaller.</end quote></div>
What are you talking about?
The 500 man. will handle 30" tires without a lift.
Of course the manufactures are not going to recommend anything over 26". It's all about liability and warranty issues with oversized tires.
Try a search.

Thanks CATSKINNER, i stuck them up to it yesterday and it looked possible but close. One more question. Will it hold the 12 inches of width with that tall a tire with stock rims? Thats what looked closest with me just looking. looked like it might hit the plastic fuel cell in rear. and possibly the shocks in the front?

I am going to say that you have nothing to worry about with 25's even in high range on mid size hills and mud. The only reason i would run low with 25's is if pulling on someone, pulling a trailer, or in/one some seriously thick or steap hills or mud.

The worst case scenario, you may have to install wheel spacers. I have a friend that ran 12" wide Executioner tires all around and he had no rubbing at all. He absolutely hated the way it handled with the wider front tires so he went back to 10" tires on all four and will never look back. The wider tires will be hard on axles and ball joints and will also cause a power loss but I have never heard of any engine or transmission damage.

I just got rid of my 06 500 manual. I had 27" mud lites and liked it for low speeds. But I lost almost 2 gears on uphill roads. I also had a problem with either being to low or to high geared in the snow and mud. The quad would have to be a 10 speed not 5, I always felt I needed a middle gear.
I thought it was too much for a 500....accept slow speeds, low range.
good luck... I did like the machine, great for down steep hills
