Default starting with some gas

Sometimes my AC has a bit of a time starting. I'll hit the starter and it may take a few seconds before it goes. However, if I give it a very slight bit of gas at the same time, it cranks up right away all the time. Is there anything wrong with doing this?

I had a 3-wheeler growing up (70s & 80s). But it had a pull start. I would do the same trick with it when it was finicky.

So yeah, I am new to the modern ATVs. It's a completely different animal (a better one).
