High Lifter kit for my 2001 AC 500
#1
I purchases a 2001 AC 500 4x4 Auto yesterday. Due to the relatively low height of the quad I would like to get a 2" High Lifter kit and 26" Mudlites. Has anyone put one of the kits on one of these machines? Opinions?

I am not sure about the 2" high lifter kit but I am pretty sure raising it 2" and putting a taller tire on will put your CV joints and axle at a steep angle and may cause you some issues with wearing out early or breaking.
I am not sure how much the 2" lift kit is but I can tell you that by purchasing and installing the High lifter spring kit and running 26" mudlites you gain close to 2" in height due to the stiffer shocks and the taller tires. I have been running this set up on my 400 manual and 500TRV for quite a while now and have had zero issues or trouble with axles or CV joiunts. I believe I originally paid under $500 for the spring kit and four 26" mud lite tires.

In regard to wearing the CV joints it shouldn't matter whether you install longer springs or the High Lifter kit that raises the bottom mount of the struts. The CVs will still be operating at a greater angle

highlifter kits are supposed to raise the atv while maintaining all proper angles. thats what they say at least. i see no problem in doing it. my brother has a 2" lift and 26"s on his AC 400 2004. runs great, no premature damage or abnormal wear. go for it.

I wasn't exactly sure how the High lifter lift kit gets its lift so it sounds good. I can tell you that with the lift I have from my taller tires and HD springs I REALLY notice the higher center of gravity, especially when taking corners at a higher rate of speed. I have around 7000miles on my drivetrain with the new springs and taller tires and I have had no troubles other than wheel bearing seals (which do not last very long)
